Embracing Excellence in Your Calling Through Faith and Action

This morning, as I was in prayer, I found myself surrendering my gift to Christ, asking Him to use it in a way that pleases Him. I said, “At whatever level or capacity I am now, use me as I am.” But then, the Holy Spirit gently corrected me: “No, no. God doesn’t give gifts partially.”

It hit me—how often do we compare our talents to others and believe the lie that what we have is somehow less? We might think, “My gift isn’t as developed as theirs” or “God gave them more talent than me.” For example, if you have a talent for singing, you might look at someone else—maybe a singer on YouTube or in your church—and feel discouraged, thinking God gave them a better or bigger gift.

But that’s not how God works. He doesn’t play favorites with His gifts. He gives each of us talents and abilities to serve others and build His kingdom. What we do with those gifts, however, is up to us.

Growing Your Gifts Requires Effort

The difference between two people with the same talent lies in their commitment to grow and mature that gift. God loves excellence. If you want to be excellent in what you do, you’ll need to put in the work. It takes practice, consistency, and dedication to reach the highest level of your potential.

Why does one person perform better than another? It’s not because they were inherently given more—it’s because they practiced more, worked harder, and stayed committed. The Bible says in Proverbs:

"Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your heart."

Even when it comes to the gifts of the Holy Spirit, we don’t operate in them on our own strength. Their manifestation in our lives depends on our intimacy with God. The deeper our relationship with Him, the more effectively His gifts will flow through us.

Excellence Honors God

God desires us to use our gifts to their fullest potential. That means doing your very best in every opportunity He gives you. It’s not about perfection but about giving Him your all and allowing the Holy Spirit to work through you.

  • Prepare as much as you can.

  • Practice consistently.

  • Show up on time.

  • Give your best effort.

  • Pray daily and seek His will.

  • Immerse yourself in God’s Word.

When we do these things, we open the door for God to do incredible work in and through us. As we yield our talents and gifts to Him, we allow Him to use us in ways beyond our imagination.

God Wants to Use You

No matter where you are right now, know that God sees your potential. He doesn’t want you to settle for mediocrity. He wants to use you at the highest level possible—but that requires your partnership.

Trust Him, commit to the process, and be diligent in your calling. When you do your best and surrender the rest to the Holy Spirit, God will use you to make a lasting impact for His kingdom.

He wants to use you—are you ready to give Him your all?
